I’m looking for some musicians into doing some type of progressive, metal mix. I’m into some heavy stuff like Meshuggah, Blotted Science, and Animals as Leaders as well as some traditional progressive stuff like old Genesis, King Crimson, and Porcupine Tree. There are many others but this will give you an idea. I would probably play guitar, but could play bass if it would be a better compliment to the project.

Some sample of what I'm working on:

Want to form a Latin-based band!

Hi! I'm a serious conga player/percussionist and singer whose interests include Santana, Los Lobos, Latin funk, the late Tito Puente, rock & roll, etc. I would like to find a lead guitarist and keyboard player to start working on a song list and come up with some original tunes. After that's in place, I'd like to concentrate on getting a drummer & bass player in order to play out.

I live in Stark County, but can travel to Akron, Cleveland, etc. If interested, please put "Musician /help wanted ad" in your subject line so it won't get caught in my spam filter.

Seeking drums, bass, vox, and 2nd guitarist for original hard rock project

I have posted several ads in the past, and have gotten a few responses each time, but every time I do, the person is all into it, then just disappears> So i will make this short and sweet:

I Am: 30 (Looking for people around my age, older or younger)

I Am looking for: 2nd guitar (lead, I play rhythm.), melody minded singer, bass player and drummer.
What I've done so far: written songs on my own with the aid of a hired gun drummer. Examples are here: www.myspace.com/ether79

I am also open to: suggestion. what you hear on my myspace are just what I came up with on my own. collaboration from other musicians will change things and add to it!

My influences are: Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Black Sabbath, The Melvins, The Meat Puppets, Foo Fighters, Local music, anything with a good hook.

Don't respond if: you're going to talk to me about jamming, getting together, then never call again after a while. you're a drug user, alcoholic, or drama magnet. Want to do a bunch of covers.

Do Respond if: You want to get together and write original, melody laden hard rock. (Hard, guitar driven rock with a a gritty vocal but tons of 'hook')

Contact me by: responding to this ad, friending me on myspace and sending me a msg, texting me at 216-978-9581

Ok, that wasnt as short as I had planned, but it's direct and to the point.

Thanks for reading.

Bassist wanted to complete power trio

posted: November 19, 2009, 09:50 PM

We are insearch of a Bassist (regardless of age "18 Plus", race or gender) to complete a power trio. We play loud hard rock "not classic, more modern" all original, have all equitment and would like to start playing local clubs. We have about 15 orginal songs and several that are in the process of being completed. Both of us do have stage experience with other bands. We have more than enough for a strong set.

What we would like in a bassist:
Reliability to committ to a Three to four hour practice once a week.
To be on time!!!!!! We have lives outside of this and dont want to waste time.
Your own rig.
The effort to get real tight.

All songs will be yours to add your own touch, both of us can play bass, but this is not a control situation "you play this, because we wrote it" kind of deal.
We do play with distortion and are hard hitting and hope you can add the punch were looking for, but WE ARE NOT A METAL BAND. Note: both of us have been playing for a good couple of years but are not, you know, into theroy or jazz players, we just try to write melodic songs that sound cool. Stupid I know. Ha Ha. If your interested please contact me and I can send you a couple of rough demos done a couple of years ago. Like I said we would like to start playing out within the next couple of months, sooner than later.

No vibing guarented, we are willing to work with you if you are willing to work with us!!!!!

Is there anyone around the Cleveland area into some of the above?
A little about my plan
I wanted to first start out in more of a recording/studio environment and finish writing/tweeking depending on the others involved. Start to market and sell music online and through a low cost distributor to start. It has got to be easier to make money selling world-wide instead of playing to a crowd of 30 people as a new band. Well anyway, once all the tracks are finished up, then start more of a traditional band rehearsal and get ready to start playing out locally or regionally and see what happens.
If you would like to hear a couple of rough tracks (with bad mp3 compression just for flavor), just go to http://www.myspace.com/facevoltlie and let me know what you think and of course if you interested in talking about doing something.

Experienced Bassist seeking…

posted: November 17, 2009, 06:25 PM

I’m an experienced bass player seeking a permanent band project. Ideally, the music styles I would prefer to play would be: Funk, R&B, Motown, Fusion, Jazz and/or Latin styles. But I also have played and am proficient at: Blues, Classic & Modern Rock, Disco, and 80’s. I’m open to any music that drives my emotions, and that I’m passionate about. And I will be more than willing to play in a band in any of those genres, if the situation is right.

I would be open to any band configuration. I’ve played in power trios, as well as, full bands with a brass section. If it fits the music and style, I’ll be happy to play regardless of the amount of instruments in the band.

I do have a music education, and can read chord charts very well, as well as, bass staff. However, I don’t let the “theory” get in the way, as I consider myself a “feel” bassist… playing by ear and creating by what feels good and sounds good.

All in all, I’m a serious musician looking to play with other serious musicians, but who also knows how to have fun enjoying music. I always conduct myself in a professional manner. I don’t show up late, drink at a show, use any drugs, and am always totally prepared for the scheduled show. I live in the greater Cleveland area, but will travel if the situation is right.

If this listing strikes you, and if I sound like someone you’d like in your band, send me an email. I can provide my playing experience, song list, and any additional info. Thanks.

I couldn't agree more. To add: Too many repeat postings, but the poster has no damn clue what they need. One day they advertise for vocals, guitar, bass or keys, then the next day or so, the ad is totally different as to what musicians they need. Then a couple of days later, it changes again with differnt musicians needed, and then more changes in a couple of days. I wish these flakes would make-up their damn minds what musicians they need or else take a hike.

Does your band need vocals from WAY down low? Then I am your guy. From Motown to Doo Wop. I know the harmonies and the choreography. I have performance experience from the small clubs to the large arenas. Let's hook up and make some great harmonies.
