Job Description
Soundwich, Inc. headquarters, located in Cleveland Ohio, is looking for an On:Site Project Design Engineer for its Product Development Team. The Project Design Engineer is responsible for supporting the design requirements of Request for Quote (RFQs) projects, and assist the program management department as a utility player. The candidate shall interface with Engineering and Manufacturing to ensure the design meets Soundwich, and Customer, standards. The Project Design Engineer may also interface with the customer to resolve any design issues, including attending design meetings with customer to ensure design information is relayed back to the program team.
Job Description:
:Lead Design requirements for Customer RFQs
:Design and detail exhaust component heat shields, body panels, etc.
:Design must meet customer clearances and requirements.
:Maintain strong familiarity with specific customer CAD data integrity requirements.
:Transfer CAD data to and from customer.
:Assist in customer relations on design issues.
:Create and maintain EBOMs for the assemblies assigned.
:Complete design work requests on:time and accurate.
:Apply and interpret GD and T
:Maintain product drawings and accurate records.
:Keep customer design of record in alignment with Soundwich design of record.
:Create new product drawings/models and complete necessary calculations
:Create / update product drawings and calculations necessary for product modifications
:Make drawing/model modifications for ECRs (Engineering Change Requests) and NPRs (New Product Requests)
:Utilize basic engineering for some basic product designs
:Review regulatory artwork for production and manufacturing
:Point of contact for IT support (drafting software, server space, etc.)
:Generate 3D models/assemblies, and 2D drawings
:Support the release of product into production
Required Skills:
:Strong working knowledge in the following Software : Unigraphics NX version 9.0, CATIA V5, and AutoCAD Inventor
:Surfacing, detailing, solid modeling, and data conversion.
:General automotive knowledge.
:Proficient in use of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
:Communication skills to organize problem solving which is then reflected in drawing
:Mechanical design knowledge
:Manufacturing experience and/or proficient understanding a plus
:Leadership abilities
:Strong communication skills and strong teamwork sense.
:Must have global mindset.
:Good verbal and written communication skills.
:Minimum Language Skills: English
Education:
:Engineering degree or equivalent experience
:Automotive Background knowledge a plus.
:2+ years experience in CAD
:2+ years experience applying GD and T
:Experience with assemblies, multi:model links, design in context.
:Experience with detailed drafting and modeling.
:Experience with PLM systems
:Experience with CATIA V5 is a strong plus.
:FEA experience is a plus.
:Sheet metal, casting design or manufacturing experience a plus.
:Metrology experience is a plus
:PPAP experience a plus
