-Manage a team responsible for the scale up of new products and supervise implementation of new and improved manufacturing processes.
-Establish a clear understanding of the capability of existing manufacturing assets and provide guidance for improving asset capability and utilization.
-Ensure operational excellence via efficient manufacturing processes. Set and work towards goals for continuous improvement.
-Assist with supervisory responsibilities for department engineers including performance management evaluations, career development support and balancing engineer's workload against project deadlines.
-Meet with team regularly to review project status and issue department monthly reports.
-Confer with management, production, business representatives and engineers to discuss project status.
-Coordinate, prioritize and execute projects by making detailed plans to accomplish goals. Direct the integration of technical activities.
-Lead multiple plant support projects both domestically and internationally.
-Assist with the scale up of new products from the synthesis lab thru the pilot plant and into manufacturing.
-Lead and coordinate raw material qualification projects by orchestrating a diverse and international team of engineers, scientists and business personnel.
-Monitor project progress against budgets and milestones using the Lubrizol Stage Gate system for project management.
-Write manufacturing authorization proposals to document raw material changes, new product introductions or process improvements.
-Organize and lead monthly and quarterly cross:functional global plant support process technology meetings. Drive for results by documenting and monitoring progress against objectives.
-Provide equipment scoping assistance as needed.
-Lead the transfer of technology from one manufacturing site to another or externally through tollers.
SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE:
-Validated savings from process improvements ideas with a track record for driving projects to completion.
-Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from an accredited university.
-Minimum 8:10 years process engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
-Previous supervisory experience of a team of engineers considered a plus.
-Six Sigma or Lean manufacturing experience with a specific focus on productivity improvements.
-Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. Capable of giving persuasive presentations to upper management and communicating with international colleagues.
-Basic knowledge of polymerization chemistry and emulsion polymerization experience highly desirable.
